WW1 German Golden Military Merit Cross, Gilt finished cross pattée with a centre medallion showing royal coat of arms, the reverse Kriegs Verdienst, within half wreath. The Golden Military Merit Cross came to also be known as the “Pour le Mérite for non-commissioned officers and enlisted men” and was the highest award for bravery to enlisted and NCO’s of the German Army pre 1918.
